Hadeda Fabric was born out of a desire to live a more creative life. Emma and Bryn both worked in corporate jobs for more than 10 years, but we realised that our hearts really lay in creating something tangible with our hands. So in 2020, Emma’s interest in design and Bryn’s screen-printing hobby quickly became something bigger, and Hadeda Fabric took flight. Named after the rather raucous bird of the same name, Hadeda Fabric (pronounced “Ha-dee-dah”) focuses on artisanal products and fabric meterage, featuring beautiful colours and our own unique designs.
We print all our fabrics by hand, using traditional screen printing techniques. Our craft takes time but we enjoy it, and we think that the result speaks for itself. Fabric is then cut and sewn into products at our studio in Sydney’s lovely Northern Beaches. We try to minimise our environmental impact by preferring local suppliers, using water-based non-toxic inks and only printing on natural fibre fabrics.
The Northern Beaches is full of glorious beaches, scenic walks and other hidden gems, so we can’t help but find inspiration for our designs in what surrounds us. When we are not busy designing or printing, we can usually be found chasing after our two small boys on Queenscliff beach. They have taught us many things, including not to take ourselves too seriously and that tubs of ink are best kept out of their reach.
